Fix: shaders / Iris crashes

If Prominence II crashes when shaders are enabled, it’s usually a driver problem or an incompatible shaderpack. The goal is to get the game stable without shaders first, then re-enable shaders carefully.

Quick fix steps

  1. Disable shaders and restart the game.
  2. Update your GPU drivers (NVIDIA/AMD/Intel), then reboot your PC.
  3. Remove the current shaderpack and try launching once with no shader pack selected.
  4. If you use Distant Horizons or extra performance mods, temporarily disable them and test (some combinations are picky).
  5. Try a different shaderpack. If one pack crashes, it doesn’t mean all packs will.

Avoid common pitfalls

  • Don’t mix OptiFine into a Fabric modpack unless you know exactly what you’re doing. Use Iris for shaders on modern Fabric packs.
  • If you changed Java or GPU settings recently, revert and test again.
  • If you see a crash only when toggling “debug” options in Iris, revert those settings to defaults.

Next steps

If it still crashes, grab logs/latest.log (and any crash report) and ask for help in your server Discord.
