Fix: shaders / Iris crashes
If Prominence II crashes when shaders are enabled, it’s usually a driver problem or an incompatible shaderpack. The goal is to get the game stable without shaders first, then re-enable shaders carefully.
Quick fix steps
- Disable shaders and restart the game.
- Update your GPU drivers (NVIDIA/AMD/Intel), then reboot your PC.
- Remove the current shaderpack and try launching once with no shader pack selected.
- If you use Distant Horizons or extra performance mods, temporarily disable them and test (some combinations are picky).
- Try a different shaderpack. If one pack crashes, it doesn’t mean all packs will.
Avoid common pitfalls
- Don’t mix OptiFine into a Fabric modpack unless you know exactly what you’re doing. Use Iris for shaders on modern Fabric packs.
- If you changed Java or GPU settings recently, revert and test again.
- If you see a crash only when toggling “debug” options in Iris, revert those settings to defaults.
