Hosting provider issues after a modpack update
Sometimes a hosting panel updates only part of the modpack (mods but not configs/datapacks), or installs the wrong server files for a new version. The result can be crashes, missing datapacks, or players being unable to join.
Fix checklist
- Stop the server.
- Back up your world folder.
- Reinstall the official server files for the exact modpack version you want to run.
- If the newest version is broken on your provider, temporarily pin to the previous working version.
- Avoid “manual mod updates” through the panel unless you know the pack supports it.
Symptoms
- Server won’t boot after updating (entrypoint stage errors, missing mods).
- World refuses to load due to missing datapacks or config-driven content.
- Players get “outdated version” when trying to join (version mismatch).
