Fix: “Can’t keep up” / performance tips
Prominence II is a large modpack. If your game stutters, takes forever to load, or you see “can’t keep up” messages, these quick changes usually help.
Client (your PC) tips
- Allocate enough RAM (often 8–10 GB). Too little causes stutters and long loads.
- Lower render distance and simulation distance; modded worldgen is expensive.
- Avoid shaders on weaker GPUs; try without them first.
- Close browser tabs/recording tools while playing.
- If you recently updated the pack, restart the launcher before trying again.
Server (TPS) tips
The “Can’t keep up” message usually means the server is overloaded. Players can reduce their impact with a few habits:
- Be cautious with huge mob farms and constant chunk loading.
- Spread out large bases and avoid keeping dozens of entities in one chunk.
- If the server is lagging, try reconnecting later or choose a more stable server.
